This is a short note to express my gratitude at the initial response to my introductory post about establishing the Nearing Completion Substack. What I loved about the response was that it reconnected me to previous long-known (and oft-thought lost) work colleagues and friends – even family members. For example, Dulguun in Mongolia, Alfira in Kazakhstan, Farhan in Pakistan, and Saadia in Kenya. Yes, when the world was more traveled, I went there – here and there, far and wide, around the globe – working in my aid development consultancy role.
Many subscribers, of course, are anonymous and unknown to me, but nonetheless responsive and greatly appreciated in this Substack sphere.
The photograph is from a café in Nairobi, Kenya, where the barista presented my coffee a picture of me, whom he called “Martini” – as opposed to the barista in Tbilisi, Georgia, who called me “Latte.”
